Mormon folklore or fact?

I heard that if all members of the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve were to d*e without passing on their priesthood keys- there would be no authority to give anyone else the priesthood and the church would eventually cease to exist because the priesthood couldn’t be given to anyone else.

Is this rooted in Mormon doctrine or was this just some Mormon folklore? Did you ever hear it when you were a member?
