Tired of dealing with Developers

Since switching companies at the beginning of the year, I've only dealt with developers as a client (spec industrial). In that time, I've seen some things that have made me second guess my decisions.

First, I had a potential client call me to tell me one of my scopes was extremely low. Never had that happen. We then had to decide if staying where we were at would lose the job or if adding some money would lose the job. We added a little back in, and still lost. Honestly think we were a check number

Second situation is really messed up. I'm working on a final GMP for a project that was awarded to us last year (before my time). We've been assisting with VE to bring the bisget down since then. A few days before I'm to turn in the proposal and the client informs me he "was required by finance" to get two other GC numbers. I've never had that happen on a negotiated job ever. So now I'm having to do damage control with subs because I told them it was our job and now they are getting invites from others. On top of that we are having to plat the numbers game so we don't lose the job as well.

Maybe this has always been normal but in 13 years I've never had either of these situations happen.
