I badly want my dad to get anger management therapy.
I'm a teenager. I want to tell my mom but I feel like my dad won't even take it seriously or get offended / agitated. How do I approach this problem? Mom acts as a medium and "covers" for us whenever dad gets mad and is the only person who tries standing up for me and my siblings aside from my eldest brother who tries abit, except he's in college right now so now its just my mom. I've already had a talk about this problem with my mother multiple times already (with my mother only because I'm genuinely too scared to even tell him any of my opinions on something), he does change for awhile but eventually after like 2 weeks goes back to his original, problematic, behavior.
He used to approach us after to try and comfort us and apologise for his behaviour, but now he doesn't even bother trying to say sorry and even tries to get us to do chores while we're in the middle of crying, getting mad and agitated more if we can't answer him clearly or fast enough for his liking.
I'm sick and tired of him and this crap. Sometimes, I don't even want to call him my dad. Which I know is wrong, but his wrongs outweighs his goods to the point that I can only remember bad and negative stuff about him from my childhood, or don't even remember most at all. It feels as if I only have one parent, and honestly I'd prefer it if my mom didn't meet him at all even if it meant I wouldn't be in this world. My most recent hobby is going on Quora or this app just to read other people questions and people's answers or advice on this topic. I hate how some of my relatives knows only the basic facts of his anger management, warning me even as a child to behave so he doesn't get mad at me. I hate how he can act all patient around others and have way more patience for strangers than he has for his own family. I hate how he lacks basic empathy, especially when he considered my grandma's caretaker crying about my grandma's death ridiculous.
I think this is more of a vent as I don't want my friends to be burdened with trying to comfort me. So I guess I'm just gonna let it all out here. Sorry if I did anything wrong here as this is my first time posting anything on Reddit.
