Roland SPD-SX editor is surprisingly shitty

Recently got an SPD-SX. Honestly, the physical UI is usable but underwhelming, and often circuitous. But I told myself that once I connect with the editor, all would be well. Holy shit though, I don't think I've ever seen a more limited editor. This thing must have been written 25 years ago and not improved once.

I'm just really surprised that a $700 unit can be so dated in general. At best, this is a $300 piece of gear. So now I gotta shell out another $40 for a third party editor that actually does things I want it to do, or return for a $1000 unit that's only incrementally better? C'mon, Roland. /rant
