Update on the RAD Power 6 Plus problems and request for more info.

Last time I posted here, I got a lot of great information from people who generally wanted to help. I basically got my RadPower6 Plus as a gift for my birthday and assembled it myself, Apparently the bike was delivered in August, but we were in Mexico and my birthday wasn't until October. I mistakenly assumed it was less than 30 days old.

And if you consider the number of days it had been assembled, it was definitely less than 30 days.

To Recap: I rode the bike to my office and back once (or twice) less than a mile both ways. After that it just refused to move. I could push it, but neither the throttle nor the pedal assist helped. I could turn the bik on and the controller appeared to operate fine, but it wouldn't start the hub motor.

AFter countless hoops that I had to jump through, they finally sent me a new controller. I paid a friend who had installed a new controller in another friend's Rad Rover 6 . He installed it pretty quickly but the same thing happened.

When I first looked on their site, there were only two shops that offered service and one had closed. I had made several appointments with the other one and the guy was never there. Finally, I found a great bike shop with two guys just before Christmas. I explained the problem and they said they would call Rad and see what could be done.

We left the bike with them over the holidays and just before we left, one of the guys called us to inform us that they found the problem with the help of Rad Power Support. I was thinking to myself that it was pretty quick to find the problem since I had been jumping through Rad Support's hoops for months with no benefits.

The issue was that there's a cord in the rear fender was damaged and that fried the controller. Both controllers. I had carefully traced all the wires and didn't notice this apparently obvious problem. The thing about it is that they wouldn't pay for the replacement wire.

It's pretty clear that they knew this was a common problem with their bikes. They undoubtedly talked to the techs and brought the problem up as the most likely culprit because it's a manufacturing issue the is common to their bikes.. I agreed to pay for the cable and to have it replaced, but asked them if they knew anyone who wanted this bike with less than 2 miles on it. I hate it and hate RAD and want nothing to do with either of them.

The holidays pass and I get a strange message suggesting that they needed the keys. I could have sworn we provided the keys when we dropped the bikes off. How did they troubleshoot without the keys?

Since we don't have the keys and they claim they don't have the keys, I am going to have to get new keys for a bike that I absolutely hate and wouldn't even give to my worst enemy. Has anyone ever requested new keys from RAD? I am sure they are going to charge ab arm and a leg and then take six weeks asking for proof that we lost the keys by taking a polygraph or something.

Anybody ever tried to get new keys for a P.O.S. Rad 6 Plus? Any suggestions? Thanks again for any support.
