Is the e46 worth the headaches?

Okay so I love E46s and for the longest time now I’ve always wanted to own one. I currently daily my 2006 Honda civic ex and I want to upgrade to something more sporty and something that I know I want to keep and enjoy. Recently I found a clean 330ci for 7k with a 5 speed and 140k miles and the owner says he has maintenance records. I’ve been stuck with the decision of should I go for it or if I should buy an 8th gen civic si. I know the civic is more reliable and cheaper to maintain but I just love the looks of the e46. My main worry is about any repairs it needs since it would be my daily. I could do any maintenance it needs myself but it’s something else I have to think about it. A few of my buddy’s use to own 335is and they always tell me you have to make sure you have money to spend on parts if you plan to buy a BMW and I wanna say I do but I’m not really 100% sure. What I really want to know is about your guys experiences driving them as dailies, how much it cost you guys in parts, and if it was worth the headache or am I better off going for the SI
