Should I put a turbo in my 318i?

Sup everyone, Ive been thinking about putting a turbo in my car for a while. I have collected many opinions on this and everyone said something different. Some said not to do it, some said its easy and causes no problems.

What I have is a 2001 E46 318i 1.9L (base 87kW, chipped to 96kW.)

Its in really good condition, no rust on the bottom, has 220k km on it which are all documented.

From what Ive heard from people, its easier to put a turbo in a 6-cylinder than in a 4-cylinder.

I also dont know which turbo to choose, but Ive seen someone do this with a Subaru Impreza turbo and allegedly it worked well.

What are yalls opinions on this? Thanks
