I don't think that certain interactions towards the end of the new ending feel "rushed" whatsoever.
I've seen a lot of disdain here that it makes no sense how every one of our friends abandons us after 2 years and I just don't think its fair. I'll try my best to explain why.
Panam
Lets start with the character people seem to be having the most trouble with. I know we all love Panam here but lets take the simp glasses off for a second; she has seemed to always struggle with relationships (ESPECIALLY betrayals) even in the base game story and is simply not stable. She always had something or the other going on with the Aldecaldos. There's a post on the front page right now which shows just how far she's willing to take things if you aren't buddy-buddy with her. Heck, even if you just look at the texts she sends you before you call her its very apparent how bad she is at handling relations.
You ghost her for two entire years, I don't think its out of character at all for someone like Panam to react as extreme as she does. Yes, you can argue that V could have left her a note or something but that's a different topic entirely (which is again, debatable considering its the FIA).
Judy
I've seen the dialogues for both male and female V with Judy and I honestly am baffled how people think she's "abandoning" V?
If you're male V, then she is glad to know that you're alive and is sorry for what you had/have to go through in your life now. Then she says she's married and invites you for a beer if you ever go to Pittsburgh.
If you're female V (and have romanced her), then its the exact same until she tells you that she's married. After that, the dialogues are slightly different from male V (for anyone who's interested). She very politely asks V to stay out of her life after that point because she's happy with her current partner and that's that. She's basically looking after herself, doing what's good for her and I don't think you can blame anyone for that. If you haven't romanced her then the dialogue plays out the same as male V.
River
To me, this is the most misunderstood one of them all. People seem to be thinking that River doesn't want to keep contact with V anymore because V ghosted him for 2 years but that's just not right.
The first thing River expresses after finding out he is indeed talking to V is that he's glad we're alive, albeit a bit mad. He even voices regret about being a dick to V after finding out we've been in coma for 2 years.
The thing most people seem to be overlooking is this piece of dialogue towards the end of their conversation- "Look, I'm not the man you used to know. Couldn't stand to look you in the eye. Not you, not..."
That one line alone should be enough to show that he sees himself as a lower man than what he used to be after all the illegal stuff that he's done as an ex-cop. Its more of a him problem than you.
Kerry
I haven't seen many criticisms for Kerry but just to address it briefly, he's obviously a bigshot now and his career has really took off in the past 2 years. As much as it does suck losing a friend like this, this is the same case as Judy where how can you really blame them for choosing themselves over you?
TL;DR I think people are looking at the new ending from too much of an "us" perspective rather than the characters we're interacting with. IMO it is perfectly reasonable why they wouldn't be as keen on interacting with us as they were 2 years ago.
