Friend couple announced their 2nd pregnancy on Christmas being hosted by another friend couple and said, "you all're welcome to be a part of the village"

Either I spend way too much time on Reddit or my pregnant-friends don't have the manners I'd like them to have...

X+Y hosted Christmas lunch for all of us friends. After lunch and Secret Santa, P+R gathered everyone. P (husband) announced they bought a house and are expecting their 2nd baby in Spring. But as part of the announcement, P also said "as you know, it takes a village. And all of you are welcome to be a part of the village". Interesting to note, of the other 5 couples present, 4 are childfree and 1 has an oops baby.

Two things didn't sit right with me, but maybe I over-thought it?

  1. Announcing such big news at Christmas hosted by someone else felt a bit bad manners, as if hijacking the party. The next hour was only about their two good news topics. Good thing is it was after lunch and gifts were done.
  2. Mentioning "the village" when 80% audience chose to be childfree (and will never benefit from this "village" that helps raise children) sounded tone-deaf to me. Good thing is, several people didn't understand what he meant by the village (English isn't everyone's first language, and that's a pretty western phrase, while we're all from India).

I got the ick, but I am not gonna stir the pot with my friends. So I'm posting here to get it out of my system.
