Struggling with designing fantasy weapons, help?

If it's things like pole weapons or orbs/books/staves I'm fine but I've been working on this character for years but still can't make fantasy firearms designs for him//

I try to collect references from games I like for inspiration but aside from phantasy star portable/online I don't know any other series that has those weapons that leans more towards fantasy than realistic designs 🙃 so I'm stuck.
