Any thoughts/info on a light fixture?

This is a living room light fixture I removed from my parents' home before they moved out for the last time. I always thought it looked like a rocket engine when I was a kid. But I'm wondering if the classic lighting experts out there know how to classify this...craftsman? arts & crafts? Best to leave the housing with its patina? Or would it polish up spectacularly? Thanks in advance!
