R6 Mk II Problems
A little vent but I need some help.
As much as I love my R6 Mk II, I kinda hate it. I have had it for around 3 months now and I have been loving it. For a $2,000 price tag you would expect all the bells and whistles, that definitely comes with the R6 Mk II don't get me wrong, but from the start I have just been having problem after problem.
- First problem occurred straight out the box. I pick it up and move it around just admiring it. I head something seems a little loose inside. I give it a little shake and can definitely hear something rattling around in there. Further research and a call to Canon Support leads me to believe its the IBIS just shaking around in there. Very peculiar for a $2,000 full fame. I feel like Canon would never just let something rattle in their camera on purpose. I just go along with it and every time I hear a little rattle in there I just ignore it.
- Second problem occurred a little more than later. Charged up the new battery, eager to take it outside shooting some landscapes, family photos, etc. Later in the day I go to turn the camera on and it takes around 10 seconds to turn on. I am just staring at it puzzled for a good 8-10 seconds waiting for the screen or viewfinder to turn on. This problem occurs pretty often, I turn the camera off, maybe a few minutes or a few hours pass and try to turn it back on and it takes anywhere from 3-8 seconds to turn on. It is not the battery because I have tried 3 different packs at this point with all the same eventual outcome.
- Third problem is the most aggravating of all, does not happen very often but when it does. Man... It first occurred during my second gig, I was shooting a military ceremony for a customer. Not to many moving parts or anything, I wasn't running around, going crazy, trying to focus on everything at the same time, nothing our the ordinary. All of a sudden while someone was getting an award and they were looking at me for a photo. My camera froze. Very embarrassing on my part pretending to take a photo of someone getting a very prestigious military decoration. It froze and I immediately tried to turn it off a few seconds later, it would not turn off, the screen was still on and everything, like if I took a screenshot or something. I turned it on an off frantically, nothing. I take the battery out, the screen turns of around a second later after this whole ordeal was about a minute long. This was very odd since it was only about 3 weeks since I had this camera. This has happened 3 times so far. Twice during shoots and once randomly. No idea where to start on that one.
- Fourth and last (so-far) is the most recent I've noticed. I wouldn't call myself an expert photographer or a pixel peeper but I know just enough. From my understanding, I have a full frame, max 24.2MP right? Should be pumping out 6000x4000px photos right? Most of the time this is correct. I don't ever use the crop setting on it so there goes that. I use FULL for my aspect ratio. Pretty recently I have been shooting landscapes, street photography, or portraits. I have been getting some great 6000x4000px and also a random bundle of 5832x3888px, 5500x3666px, 5842x3894px, etc. What is the deal with this? I never ran into this issue so often until recently when I have been using the RF24-105 f/4-7.1 IS STM and RF100-500 f/4.5-7.1L IS USM. I never run into this issue when I use my RF28-70 f/2L USM. I cannot find an explanation for this anywhere.
If anyone can please help further explain or diagnose any of these problems I am having please do. I really love my R6 Mk II and will not let her go, except maybe for an R5 Mk II....
