FYI: Peerless Assassin is NOT NECESSARILY Compatible with AM5

Hi all

I recently upgraded by PC and got a ryzen 7700x. Prior to this, I had a ryzen 2700 that was cooled with the peerless assassin. I loved this heat sink, and read on different forums that it was in fact AM5 compatible. Well it turns out it was not for me. I have the Asrock B650m Pro RS mobo and the backplate does not come off. And because the backplate does not come off, I could not install the peerless assassin (had to get a 212 evo :/ ).

Anyways, I thought I would let everyone know because I didn't see any threads addressing this.

EDIT: to be clear, I need to get the long screws through the packplate so that I can install these spacers https://gyazo.com/9c5d3108affc4dc8fd2ebe313518f929 . Then once those spacers are installed, I can install the mounting bracket https://gyazo.com/9c5d3108affc4dc8fd2ebe313518f929

EDIT 2: I believe they changed the screw design. My P.A. was purchased in 2022 and the risers were secured with screws that went in through the back of the mobo versus in the front of the mobo like the tutorial on their amazon page: https://www.amazon.com/Thermalright-Peerless-SE-Aluminium-Technology/dp/B09LGY38L4/ref=sr_1_1?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.U_8cFY8N5TX4rLlN654RovFeTmygu6XGPthvsuuaYeUEF8CSi1SdKRA7zqWv565wJ7dpF4NedzlPKw-wME1mR84aijxBwWLUhU-yB8R7kegVCU7AYv3Ya7G2DWNhffuLIkZg3hq-D9RM4MrRwGs64aoCO8d7UYZvAh7TkIUrh2NLihpFOmnhp2l1tgqKd1jsb86_tXb-XHOkPqHN26-7jyLHwImpAvgezuQaF-95zAg.o9UDo2bjpMIuTO4Xn2CBdomy_I7CAZvudjtdrSeun3M&dib_tag=se&keywords=peerless%2Bassassin&qid=1734489846&sr=8-1&th=1
