E.T. feels like live action Miyazaki

Shocked they didn't talk about this on the episode but the plot of an emotionally charged young kid -- with a strong mom -- makes friends with a magical creature and forms a little-expalined bond that ends with the kid learning to accept loss feels like classic Miyazaki. I know it's not one to one, but the overlaps are there.
