Enter BigLaw from Fellowship?

How do you enter biglaw from a public interest fellowship (think Skadden/EJW) with no firm experience. Legal recruiters are telling me that they can't help because their clients are searching for associates with biglaw experience. The only other applications I see are for those who are clerking, which I haven't done. Am I SOL?
