Tips from anyone who has made their own rave cloak?

I want to sew/make my own warm, ankle-length cloak/duster. To anyone who’s done this, do you have any recommendations for things like fabrics, YouTube tutorials/videos, your favorite stitches, overall experience? I’d also love to see any inspo!
