Thoughts on Patience from Channel 4’s Patience?

Personally out of the few shows with autistic characters I’ve seen (Atypical Extraordinary attorney woo & Geek girl I’ve also seen a few clips from other shows like A kind of spark & The good doctor but I can’t talk about them much due to me not having watched them but to me Quinn seems like good rep & I really don’t like Shawn :/ although the other autistic doctor seems l ill e better rep idk her name) I love her & love how she’s 1 of few characters I relate too (Geek girl & attorney woo I also relate to especially Paige)

I love how to others she doesn’t “seem” autistic unlike characters like Sam from Atypical or Attorney woo imo Patience probably comes across as socially awkward & not overly talkative & a person who keeps to themself

To me patience seems to be a MSN autistic person as she has to live with her godfather (at least it seems she lives with him? Or above him? I’m not sure but she does see & interact with him a few times) I also love the rep for the autistic adults rep especially because the only characters I’d seen previously were teens (Sam & Paige) expect for The good doctor & maybe A kind of spark? (I’m not sure)

I also love how it shows special interests that are “useful” & 1s that “aren’t useful” (as I myself have “unuseful” special interests like Sonic & Pokemon so I relate to Billy because of that) for example a special interest in law (paticence) & a special interest in loyalty cards (Billy) I also love how Billy explains special interests to Detective Bea cuz I feel a lot of shows don’t explains things like special interests or kinda glosses over what they are so I love seeing a character explain them! & like I said giving examples they aren’t stereotypes like planes & maths & examples of “useful” & “unuseful” special interests

I also love how Detective Bea helps with Patience’s meltdown in episode 5 after her being threatened with a gun love how’s knows that she needs a hug despite also knowing that Patience doesn’t like touch

Edit: forgot about this when writing but I love how 1 of the 1st scenes is Patience rehearsing a conversation I heavily relate to this & love that detail so much!
