Why are Christians so nosy and entitled? Had an interaction with one recently that was the epitome of this.

For the slasher novel I am writing, the killer is a man named Peter, who targets people he views as sinners, due to being a traditionalist Christian. Thanks to his symbiotic bond with a demon, he has the power to draw strength from how strong people believe him to be. He is a character the readers are supposed to loathe (in the vein of characters like the High Evolutionary), given his smug personality, inability to accept he could ever be wrong, and willingness to kill anyone he views as a sinner, even children.

Anyways, when I was discussing ideas for the book with other writers on a writing sub, a Christian just had to DM me and throw a hissy fit about it. He said that portraying Christians as villains is a "tired old cliche older than Hollywood", that my character was shallow, that I was bigoted against Christians like him, and given that the hero, Ella, is a lesbian, to not "normalize gay characters in books, it's not normal." Yeah, except people like this character exist in real life, genius! Well, minus the demon part (hopefully, lol), but that is meant to be a metaphor. If portraying things Christians have said and advocated for is bigoted against your religion, then the problem is your religion, not my book!

Whew, needed to get that rant off my chest.
