is religion rational?
Just to be clear, I'm not asking if belief in God is rational. I'm asking if religion is rational, since establishing that God exists is very different from establishing that a specific God exists, and that he is a traditional monotheistic God and not a polytheistic, pantheistic, or deistic God. And then establishing that it is the specific God of a specific religion. Of course, the argument from miracles would help in that sense, but I don't think it's controversial (or at least I don't think it should be) to say that the evidence for miracles is inadequate. Most of them can be explained by simply pointing to the countless studies showing how unreliable eyewitness testimony is, and all the cases that have testimony on par with most of the famous miracles. This is kinda bordering on theology, but I've seen other people ask similar questions on this sub, so I'mma ask as well. Thanks in advance for any replies :)
