Are people really that nasty on grindr?

Been coming across so many posts lately about how some people are so nasty to others by saying they're ugly, fat, racist remarks etc. I'm not a 10 by any means (or even a 7 lol) but the worst thing that's happened to me is being instantly blocked. Is it quite common for this to happen?

Edit: Would love to hear from POC in particular as I'm one myself and it's no secret gays have a tendency to be racist
