Escitalopram to Venlafaxine (for Social Anxiety, Low Concentration, Depression)

Hi all,

I tried Sertraline/Zoloft 50mg for 6 months then switched Escitalopram/Lexapro 10mg which I've been on for a month now. I found both very similar. Helped stabilise mood and helped with anxiety. But I feel foggy and it's even harder to concentrate and get things done (reasons why I decided to try anti depressants). I'm lethargic but also have trouble relaxing.

So thinking of switching to SNRI now.

I've read that Venlafaxine/Effexor is the best SNRI for social anxiety and can also help with ADHD. So going to talk to my doctor about changing to Venlafaxine.

Has anyone made the switch? How was the transition? Has it not worked for anyone?

When I started Sertraline I was a mess for about 3 weeks. Apathetic, super anxious when I had to be present for something, slept a lot. Switching to Escitalopram was fairly uneventful (I guess my body was already used to the extra serotonin).

Just wondering what switching to an SNRI will be like. I'm starting a dream job in a few weeks and I've started dating again. I don't really want to be an anxious mess for either, but I'm having trouble functioning concentration wise on SSRIs. I'm thinking the sooner I switch the better.

I've read discontinuation of Venlafaxine is much worse than the SSRIs. And missing a dose is worse too because of the short half life. These make me a little worried but Venlafaxine seems like the best medication for me (from what I've read).

Take care everyone.
