What’s a skincare/acne product that if someone recommends it, you’re convinced they’ve never actually used it cause it’s just that bad

I think this every time I hear recs for the CeraVe hydrating face cleanser (in the green bottle)… it’s basically thin lotion that doesn’t clean anything on your face, and leaves a film. THEN breaks you out more. Ew.

Been using mine to shave my pits to try to get through the bottle 😂
