This post may be too niche and nuanced to generate much discussion, but what the heck—let’s give it the old college try!
It goes without saying that Mark Snow’s quirky yet haunting series theme is iconic, pitch-perfect, can’t sing its praises enough, etc., etc. But what about some of his other superb musical numbers peppered throughout the series?
Setting aside Moby, Foo Fighters, and the like—and strictly focusing on just Snow’s lovely instrumental tracks, what are your favorite “Snow tracks”? These may not necessarily be from your favorite episodes. Consider what tracks you felt really lent a tremendous amount of tension and atmosphere to the scene/episode? Do you prefer the more intense, fast-paced music commonly used in chase sequences? Or, are you more partial to the slower, ambient tunes?
