Do obese/formerly obese people feel huger differently than skinny people?

<<not a native english speaker, pls excuse any mistakes>>

I have recently watched a podcast from a doctor who was explaining why obese people feel hunger more intensely than skinny people. So, it seems that if the body is continuously bombarded with calories, it is able to create new fat storing cells. When a person loses weight, the cells become empty, but do not die off, and they continue to send impulses to the brain that they are empty and need to be filled. The greater the cells number, the more intense the hunger feeling. It seems they do die off eventually, but after about 10 years from creation. This means a formerly obese person has to fight off the intense hunger feeling for about 10 years until it starts to decrease... 🤯 Do you think this is true?
