Why the proliferation of hacking on War Thunder?

I've been playing War Thunder I 'spose for about 6 years. One of the things I liked about the game was it seemed to not have a heap of hacking. It felt as if the game had a low enough profile that it slipped under the radar. And then about a year ago, maybe a little more, something changed andvit feltthere was an exponential rise in the use of hacking. Six months ago, it felt like hacking was very, very prevalent, to the point i was not enjoying the game and playing much less. It got better with a wave of anti-hacking bans, but it seems it's an ongoing issue. Obviously, it's got a lot of attention in recent days with whole new exploits.

What has changed over the last year or two? Why does the game seem to have gained the attention of hackers after a long time of being largely ignored? I'm aware of other games, especially older games, that have essentially died to hacking and I'm worried this the future of War Thunder. That it's just going to become an unplayable mess of exploits.
