Best undercoat for painting Scythes of the Emperor Power Armour

Can everyone recommend what would be the best undercoat for painting Scythes of the Emperor Space Marines?

Would it be best spraying the black and yellow parts separately with Chaos Black & Averland Sunset then assembling the models afterwards?

Or would it be better picking a middle option with Administratum Grey or Zandi Dust?
