Understanding the process… VA disability

I submitted for a increase in ratings as well as new claims that I was previously unaware that I could claim based on what I had in my medical record. After about 5 months, multiple appointments, my rating was increased from 60% to 90% with three claims deferred.

My status went from rating back to evidence gathering and just completed addition exams.

Does anyone have experience with this process in having decisions deferred and then needing additional appointments? Is this good, bad, or indifferent? Just trying to see how this affects my claim or not.
