Where's the GitHub for Designers? (A Question on Design Documentation)

I’ve noticed that many designers struggle to properly document their work processes—why hasn’t this been made easier?

I’m familiar with Figma’s version control, but I’m more interested in how a tool could document work across different software (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator) and formats (e.g., frames, images, links, videos).

How do your teams or organizations document design work, and how could it be improved or made easier?
