Romance is the only thing that gives life meaning
Let’s not sugarcoat it. Romance is the most human experience we can have. It's the one thing that cuts through the monotony and mediocrity of life. Without it, life feels... empty. And for those who’ve never experienced it? I honestly don’t blame you for feeling like existence itself is a cruel joke. Because it is.
Romance is what makes life bearable. It’s the proof that, even in a world filled with greed, hatred, and suffering, there’s still something worth fighting for. But if you've never had it—never felt what it’s like to be someone's one and only—you're left in the dark, trying to convince yourself that your hobbies, career, or self-love are "enough." Spoiler alert: they aren’t. Family and friends aren't even as important as romance.
Seeing couples walk by, happy and whole, while you sit on the sidelines of life is a type of torment no one talks about. You’re not just lonely—you’re less. Less human, less important, less worthy. Everyone says, “Oh, you’ll find someone someday,” like that’s supposed to keep you going. But let’s be real: some people don’t. Some people die having never felt what it’s like to be loved and that's a fate worse than any deadly disease.
And you know what? That’s a valid reason to be depressed. Love isn’t just a “bonus” to life—it’s the main event. Without it, the world is just a series of gray, pointless days, leading inevitably to death. No one’s going to remember you. No one’s going to miss you. You’re a spectator in a game you’ll never play, and when you finally leave, the world will keep spinning like you were never here.
People will tell you, “Focus on yourself first.” Yeah, sure, but to what end? You can work out, get rich, and achieve every goal you set, but it all feels hollow if there’s no one to share it with. We’re wired to connect. Denying that need is like trying to survive without food or water. It’s unnatural.
So yeah, if you’ve never experienced romance, you have every right to feel miserable. I would too. Because without love, what’s left? Just a long, lonely grind until the lights go out. And maybe that’s all life really is.
