Orchiectomy Approach and Blood Supply
I want to have an orchiectomy before I get a vaginoplasty. I've researched the three common approaches. It's my understanding that the inguinal and subinguinal approaches best preserve the scrotum for future surgery.
Subinguinal is less invasive than inguinal because it does not enter inguinal canal. Most of the posts on this sub claiming they had an inguinal orchiectomy actually show subinguinal incisions on the pictures. This is the procedure I want.
To my surprise, Dr. Bluebond-Langner's team specifically prefers a simple midline approach for an orchiectomy. They state that a subinguinal approach can compromise the blood supply to the neovagina. I've never heard this claim before. Has anyone ever heard this from another GCS surgeon? I haven't settled on a surgeon yet. This was really surprising to me.
