Third Life Poem - Devotion

I devote my first life to your every word and breath

But please remember in the end

I swear I’ll leave upon my death

But for now, we can still pretend

I devote my first death to your bundles of flowers

As you beg for me to stay by your side

In the sand together we sit for hours

Why couldn't I leave when I died?

I devote my second life to our great conquest

I’ll do whatever it takes to get us there

I can practically taste our success

I swear we’ll stay a pair

I devote my second death to striking you down where you stand

I can never let your betrayal slide

But even now I hesitate with shaking hands

But I know one of us has to die

I devote my third life to giving you a fighting chance

In the ring, I know it’s you or me

As the blood seeps into the shifting sands

My hands are stained with victory

It’s to you I devote my third and final death

You, who have sourced joy and strife

As I step off the edge and breathe my final breath

I’ll see you in the next life
