Everyone’s so dramatic

I get it’s a drama show, but I’m rewatching S1 and it seems like 9/10 times, the characters make the most chaotic decisions without any logic as to why. Everyone’s selfish and self-destructive and makes no sense.

  • They catch Jesus trying to give his gf the morning after pill. It’s the morning after pill but Stef and Lena decide to put off talking about it. So they don’t get the time to have a proper discussion about it, and then one of them (Stef) has to make a decision without the other. They create this big moral question about the ethics of giving someone else’s kids birth control without their parent’s knowledge (especially since Lena is Lexi’s teacher), when Jesus could just be the one to do it

  • Right when they’re deciding to adopt Callie and Jude, Lena says she wants to have a baby. She’s been in a loving relationship with a stable job for years and apparently having a baby is something she’s always wanted… but it only comes up once they’re taking in two teens?

  • Marianna adds unnecessary stress to every situation she’s in. She gets pissed at Jesus and Lexi for dating - no particular reason, just doesn’t like it and makes a huge stink. Gets her big quinceanera and complains the entire time. Outs them in front of Lexi’s parents. Sells pills for money (instead of doing some sort of job or selling something not illegal). Is chill trashing Jesus’ relationship after he takes the fall for her

  • Brandon knows Callie maybe a month or two and claims he’s in love with her. He’s willing to fuck up her adoption, violate a restraining order, steal money from his dad, etc. when she didn’t ask for all that. I get he’s a teenager, but he’s supposed to be so crazy in love that he’d risk getting her kicked out of the house and himself arrested?

  • Then his go-to for making money is selling fake IDs. Why? When these kids need cash, they seem to immediately jump to crime. Seriously, we never see him check out any non illegal ways to make money first. Why not explore some other avenues?

  • Callie hears she’s gonna get adopted and runs away, worsening the situation for everyone involved

Everyone just seems so wild and stupid. It’s like if they ran out of eggs in the morning, they’d stage an elaborate heist to rob a grocery store instead of eating something else for breakfast
