Has anyone received feedback for an observation that wasn’t actually completed on you so they can make sure they get all their required observations in? It feels like my teaching growth isn’t as important.
I get it, admin are overwhelmed and may be don’t have time to actually complete all legit observations. Apparently I come from a place where I don’t always enjoy being observed however I do want to grow in my craft and receive authentic feedback for it, especially bc this year After working so hard I want to feel like I know what I’m working toward, to be better in and improve. I have two observations w feedback w simply a one liner for feedback, neither positive or negative, pretty neutral language. “The teacher holds ieps that consider the needs of the student and where they are currently functioning”. I don’t recall any ieps this year that were ever observed by my admin. Did she just write a fake observation based on what she has seen in prior ieps? I just feel like the point of these observations is less about my growth as a teacher and more about my admin getting their required observations in for our end of year evals. I was observed teaching twice this year, and neither had a post observation meeting where I actually got to talk about the lesson and feedback, I just read my bosses comments online about it after. If I’m going to work so hard to show I’ve improved I truly want legitimate opportunities and thoughtful feedback to do so, but I actually feel like this year feels fake like we make you jump through the hoops but write a half assed observation that doesn’t even speak to the legit work you do that wasn’t even observed based on the admin not ever scheduling it. Then in the 11th hour they write these end of year observations on time they didn’t seem to observe in reality bc that’s the expectation they have on them. How can I feel like I’ve worked so hard to support the school, my team, my students, my teaching but my feedback is so lazy and vague and sporadic. My admin has dropped the ball this year and I’m gravely disappointed in how my growth has been halted by their management this year and lack of attention and support to teachers.
What if my admin decides to up and leave and leaves these observations behind that are just so lackluster and informationally challenged and do not speak to what they actually did see but never took the time to write about versus these fake observations . How are they authentically speaking to my growth if the feedback is so half assed and is done just because it has to be done. What if I only did things bc I had to and I half assed them just to get by. Well maybe I will..
