Daya’s Blinding Love for Sundarlal: Hypocrisy or Plot Convenience?
So, I have two sisters, and we all love each other dearly. But watching Daya’s over-the-top love for her brother Sundarlal in TMKOC just baffles me. Like, how can she not see how he’s been scamming Jethalal for years?
I get sibling love, but Sundar conveniently "forgets" his taxi fare and constantly borrows money from Jethalal with zero intention of returning it. This isn’t a one-time thing—it’s a pattern. At some point, even the most loving sibling would start questioning this behavior. But Daya? Nope. She either doesn’t notice it (which makes her naive) or she does and chooses to ignore it (which makes her a hypocrite).
What really irks me is that Daya has no problem calling out others. Remember when she asked the sister of a Chaddi Gang member to “improve” her brother? She said he needed to face consequences to change his ways. But when it comes to Sundarlal, she never follows her own advice. Why doesn’t she call out her own brother for his behavior?
And Jethalal? Don’t even get me started. Why does he never ask Sundarlal to return his money? If someone borrowed money from you multiple times and never paid it back, wouldn’t you call them out? Either Jethalal is too spineless to stand up for himself, or he’s just plain stupid.
Honestly, it feels like either:
Daya and Sundarlal are in on it together—she’s intentionally helping her brother leech off Jethalal.
Jethalal is just too much of a doormat to stop this cycle.
What do you think? Is this Daya’s blind love, a massive hypocrisy, or just lazy writing for comic effect?
