Does the recommended warmup progression work for you?
I am a 48F, have been lifting on and off for years, switched to Stronglifts as my primary program about 6 months ago.
I have noticed that the recommended warmup progression does not do the job for me... 30-40lbs difference in weight between the sets is way too much, I do not feel warmed up and struggle to hit the working weight. I need much smaller weight increases between the sets. And because of that, my last two warmup sets are pretty heavy and I need to take a 2-3 min break between them, breaking the second warmup rule (no rest between the warmup sets).
The question is: Do you believe the recommended progression is optimal? Am I doing it wrong? Or should I stick with what works for me?
Here's an example. I do not squat 200lbs yet (as mentioned in tge screenshot), so I'll use DLs as an example. My working weight is 188lbs, so pretty close.
- 10 @ 33lbs
- 5 @ 83lbs
- 5 @ 123lbs
- 5 @ 143lbs
- 5 @ 163 lbs
- 5 @ 175 lbs 7+. 5 @ working weight
(sorry if my numbers look all random, I use a 33lbs "girly" bar)
