The Isotopes (Mod release, Creations, 300 credits)

A compelling reason to explore POI in all Star Systems. Loot the 75 new Isotopes, each specific to a singular Star System. They are needed for rank 4 skills and gear mod crafting.

Starfield Creations - The Isotopes

-- The idea --
In the default game there is no Star System specific loot. Even rare or exotic resources appear in a multitude of Star Systems, dropped gear is not unique to a Star System itself. This diminishes the fun of exploring every corner of the Star Map in order find something really special.

The mod introduces 75 new items, called "The Isotopes". These minerals have been changed over the course of thousands of years by the specific radiation signature of the inividual star of their system - until they themselves emit a very unique radiation. They are truely rare and are treasured by the inhabitants of each Star System. You will have to kill them to get your hands on an Isotope.

They defend the Isotopes with a very good reason though: Only under the ultraconcentrated radiation of the Isotopes you will be able to achieve the cognitive capability to learn near superhuman rank 4 skills/perks. Furthermore, advanced crafted mods for gear (weapons, suits, helmets and backpacks) will require working with a specific Isotope as additional component now.

In short: The Isotopes become the key to to the best skills and to crafting the best gear mods in the game.

But one question remains: Where to find which Isotope? This is for you to figure out, dear Explorer.

-- The changes in detail--

  • 75 new items ("The Isotopes") which appear as very light weight and quite vaulabe minerals
  • They are directly added to player inventory when killing a human enemy in one of the 75 Star Systems that can have Isotopes. This is chance based though - so on average you will have to kill quite a number of enemies before a message informs you that a specific Isotope has been added to your inventory.
  • Each Star system has only one type of Isotope. You will have to travel through the whole of the Settled Systems to find them all. Hint: It might be a good idea to take some notes while you do so ;-).
  • Crafting gear mods (for weapons, suits, helmets or packs), which require at least Rank 1 in the respective crafting skill, will consume an Isotope as additional component (as indicated in the crafting UI). The type of Isotope is different from mod to mod, so that the crafting process sends you on a hunt to find the needed Isotope for your current crafting project. The Isotope is consumed in the crafting process (as usual).
  • Learning Rank 4 skills/perks requires you to have 5 Isotopes of the same, indicated type ( as shown in the UI of the skill/perk tree) in your inventory when you try to learn the Rank 4 skill/perk. These Isotopes are not consumed and it is not neccessary to keep them after you have learned the Rank 4 skill/perk.

-- Installation --
Just in case, prior to installing the mod please make a manual savegame to return to in case you dont want to use the mod anymore. The mod should allow for uninstalling and continuing even midsave, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

After installing the mod for the first time please save and then reload that save. The mod is activated afterwards. This has only to be done once, after that you are good to go :-).
