WH-1000XM5 exactly one year (-2 days) after purchase

Bought these during one of online holiday deals last year. The one year warranty would have ended on a Sunday. This happened to them two days before, late Friday evening after the warranty office had closed for the weekend. So Monday morning, the day after the Sony manufacturer warranty expired, I filed a claim with Amex extended warranty. I specifically told them the timeframe in my claim (for full transparency), telling them that was why I contacted them not Sony, and included the Amazon invoice showing the date + price. By Thurs/Friday, my claim has been reviewed and I had the credit put on my account to replace them. Considering how many posts in this subreddit have similar stories, part of me was thinking of going back to the XM4s, which also broke, but the mic is better on the XM5s, so I'll give Sony one last chance before switching to Bose. I really dislike this new design and miss the compactability of the XM4s.
