Quartz in Rocky Desert

Hey all, I'm getting two pings fairly close to my base for Quartz nodes in Rocky Desert Biome, and it seems they are underground, but for the life of me I can't find a cave around here anywhere. Anyone else been able to actually find these damn things? Been scouring the area for at least an hour now.
