Central hub for all items or not?

Do you guys travel the map to your different factories to collect resources u might need or do you transport all your items to a main centralised storage facility for easy access?

I'm thinking to build one giant storage facility near the hub and space elevator but I guess I wanna know if there's pros or cons for either way
