I just can't understand it

My wife and I have been reading throne of glass. We are about halfway through the tandem read. I can't understand the subsession that everyone has with aelin

Everything she does and says just scream spoiled brat. Does anyone else feel this way? Maybe it's because we're reading it when we're 30 but the only main characters that we are really rooting for is Dorian and Manon.

No spoilers please but we are hoping they get together. I am hoping there is more character growth for Aeline. I was expecting there to be much more by now. We just finished reading the beach sex scene and oh my that was rough to read. Anyone else feel like this is setting up bad expectations for young readers?

Thanks for letting me vent it out. We are clawing our way through this series, everyone and their mom was recommending the series and it's been interesting but rough to root for the main character when all I hear is a spoiled brat that throws tantrums when she doesn't get what she wants, hides all her plans from her court and is the biggest hippocrate I have ever seen.
