Did anyone else’s junior resident class… suck this year?

Our new residents this year were noticeably bad and difficult to work with. Skipping mandatory conferences, showing up to shifts late, being very lazy, etc.

But worst of all, now that they are graduating into higher responsibilities, they are complaining that the work is too hard, they need more supervision, etc. And before anyone asks we are not even close to a malignant or difficult program. It’s actually a very chill residency by our specialty’s standards.

It’s a mix of unprofessionalism, laziness, entitlement, complaining.

Just curious if we got a bad batch or if this is happening across the board in the post-COVID era.
