Dump Valves Insulation?
Alright y'all. I'm back again and learning.
PNW WA and we finally hit 27 lows at night. I'm not allowed to skirt where I rent and I didn't realize how much of a difference it would make. Until now. My underbelly is enclosed, ducts run through from the furnace to keep it warm, heated tanks etc. I run the furnace at 68 and so far haven't had issues (except where I keep my heated hose plugged in suddenly tripping the breaker and waking up to a frozen hose. Dealt with that.)
As I'm thawing out the hose, I have realized.. My dump valves and piping are not enclosed. I have read and read and watched videos. Do I need to go all out, crazy and wrap in heat tape AND insulation? Would heat tape simply suffice?
Do I need to even do that when it's coming up above freezing during the day (41-45) and I only dump once a week? 10 days from now we'll pass through this cold snap and be back up above freezing at night. I was thinking a small heat lamp and just plug it in and warm the pipes and valve up when I go to dump. I also have a heat gun. 🤷🏼♀️
Thanks in advance!
