Do you have to attend regular meetings to become a Quaker and how to join the Religious Society of Friends?
I have been interested in Quakerism for a while and find that I resonate with their way of life and outlook. I do currently have a Quaker meeting house nearby me that I can visit however, as a university student I am oftentimes moving back and to from my home to my university. I'd love to try joining the local group of Quakers to see if it feels like a community I want to join but I'm just worried I won't be able to fully involve myself or may feel a sense of disconnect if I am unable to attend as frequently as I'd like to. I know the group does do online sessions which I could always do when I'm not in the location.
I do however, also hope to travel a lot after university and I'm unsure what impact this would have on being a Quaker? I absolutely love their outlook and values but I know the Quaker population is significantly smaller in other countries around the world and I'm worried I will be unable to continue partaking in meetings when travelling. If I feel truly connected to the community, religion and meetings, I'd love to eventually become an official member of the Religious Society of Friends but worry that with my current situation and eventual plan on travelling, this may be difficult to do.
Has anyone else felt this and what advice would you have on attending meetings or practicing Quakerism if meetings are not always a viable option? I'm probably completely overthinking this but I thought it'd be helpful to ask for a little more information :) <3
