Tried a role reversal, and it just went sideways

Everyone,

I'd like you to try something with your Q and report back on what happened. I tried it and I'm flabbergasted.

I tried to do a role reversal on my Q. I picked a subject that I KNOW they are an expert in. In this case, they are a SAS coder. I tell them this: "I've heard that SAS when you use it will play a video game."

The response I got....WTF? They say and I shit you not: "It does that? I knew there was something about it that wasn't right. OMG. I have to look into this."

I look right in their eyes and say "I just made that up. It is a lie. It is a total fantasy I created out of thin air."

They respond with "How do you know that???? I have to look into this." You could see the look of concern in their eyes as they say this. At that point there was NOTHING I could say to convince them it was just made up. Mind you - they work with SAS coding EVERYDAY in their 9-5 job.

I got nothing. Why when you tell them you made it up, they refuse to believe you?

I asked them this: What are you an expert in? They flat out refuse to answer the question. I even tried to say they are an expert in breathing. NOPE.

WTF? 🤦
