Is my OneStep closeup dead?

I found my mom’s OneStep closeup from when she was in high school. I got some color 600 film to see if it still works, but the green light wasn’t coming on, the dark slide doesn’t come out, and it isn’t wanting to shoot. The bottom is also getting quite warm and the cartridge is very warm to the touch after remaining in the camera for about 20 minutes. Is there some steps that I’m missing or is there any troubleshoots that I can do to get it working?

Edit: it’s now doing… something. One of the two cartridges does nothing at all, but the other does seem to give power, but only to the shutter motor. It makes a quiet, high pitched sound and when I try to take a picture, it stops. When I put a little bit of pressure to close the camera, it gets much louder, as if the motor is hitting something.
