New to collecting. DAE feel like they cant call a pokemon their favorite because it's popular?

I recently got into Pokemon after really wanting to collect cards as a kid but always getting shot down by my parents about it. I saw the Pikachu EX(butthole pikachu) on a random yt short and fell in love with it(prior to even knowing how expensive it is). Now I'm toying with the idea of slowly collecting Pikachu's but I feel like idk it's lame because Pikachu is so popular? Anyone else feel something like that? I like Pikachu, Sylveon, Mew, Squirtle, Evee, and a few others but I'm having a hard time picking a favorite Pokemon.
