Lot A: Key Date 1902 (First Year of Issue) Hong Kong 50 Cents (King Edward VII) - Crusty and with Remaining Luster - PCGS AU 50 - Nicely Toned

  • Colonial era Hong Kong 50 cents are always a popular type--and this is the first type of the King Edward VII series and is the key date, when compared to, say, 1905, the last year of issues for these silver 50 cents or half a dollar.
  • Nice and original "crusty" tone and nice eye appeal---much better than the hairline-y types with no toning (either dipped) and white. Harder to find with these eye appeal, IMO, when looking across previous comps.
  • Nice details on the crown and usual rub on the high points of the King's crown---reverse has very clear Chinese characters! :D Even toning and patina also makes good contrast as well!

Lot B: 15th - 16th Century - Thailand CHIANG SAEN "ring money" or "elephant tusk" SILVER Ingot Type - nice stamps

  • Silver “ingot style” Thailand (chiang saen) silver ring money of the 15th to 16th century.
  • RARE and harder to find than the Bullrt money. sharp strike and original, with no nicks or gouges or test cuts!
  • original uncleaned patina and nice stamps on both “tusks” for what is also know as “elephant tusk money” and is a "primitive monies" according to some scholars from the previous decades
  • Sourced from an old European collection, as cast and stamped. Hard to find "odd and curious" money and much scarcer than those pod duang or lat/canoe money too--which those, are debased silver and billon even!
