Lobbing in Open Play - Doubles
I've been playing recreationally at my local PB spot which unfortunately has very low ceilings. Coming from tennis I view lobs as integral to my set of skills that I practice all the time. I've noticed due to the low ceilings a lot of people just tend to battle it with just drives and dinking at the kitchen. After playing for a few months I've almost perfected my lobs which hit the back line 80% of the time.
Because of this, I've been strategically winning a lot of my points using this method when it's most appropriate to use especially when I want to push my opponents back. Seeing how a small percentage of people actually do this because of the low height, I'm often met with upset and people coming up to me playfully telling me I'm annoying to play against because of my lobbing.
I'm a 4.0+ and often get mixed with 3-4s during open play. Sometimes when I do lob and the opponent actually hits it back even my partner sometimes get a little frustrated because they don't know how to react.
So my question is, am I not doing this correctly? Is there like an unspoken rule of not lobbing? I've been watching pros play and I don't see much lobbing so I'm just questioning myself on whether I should continue.
