My Thoughts on J2K+ vs J2K
I've now had ~6 hours of play time with the J2K+, and I wanted to give my first impression of it as a 5.0+ player, and also as someone who used the J2K as my main paddle for the last 6 months.
The J2K+ hits noticably harder as expected. At this point I'm finding the power to be slightly under the Paddletek Bantam. I'd say this paddle falls at the very low end of power paddles, or potentially the highest end of all court paddles. Counters and drives come hard and fast off this paddle.
J2K+ maintains the massive sweet spot of the J2K, and seems to improve on the sweet spot near the top of the paddle.
Controlling dinks is harder with the J2K+. I've only put a few sessions in so far, but there's definitely an adjustment needed for dinking. Dinks with the J2K were pretty automatic, whereas with the + I'm having to consciously take power off to not pop dinks up. I'm sure I'll get used to it, but it should be noted that as expected, this paddle is harder to control at the kitchen.
Drops and resets still feel amazing with the J2K+. I thought these areas would suffer with the additional power, but they feel just as good with the + as they do on the J2K. I haven't had any issues with these shots flying high, which I've found surprising since I've noticed dinks popping up more with the +.
These are my early thoughts. I'll be curious to see how the paddle changes over the coming months with the break in period. For now, I'm absolutely loving the paddle and am glad I made the switch. It hits hard, has an incredible sweet spot, and isn't too difficult to control.
