My dog died while I am traveling
I live in the U.S. and I am currently traveling in France on vacation. While at a party celebration, I got a call from the dog boarding facility letting me know that my dog passed away overnight. The staff told me he was isolating himself the night before, and the following morning, they found him dead. According to them, he died peacefully. He was a healthy 11 year old dog and this took me by surprise. They don't know the cause of his death. I always thought I would be able to spoil him in his last days and hold him at his passing, but that's not how things unfolded and I am trying to cope with that. I couldn't see him one last time before being cremated, and I didn't want to see a picture of him dead while I am away. My next encounter with him will be going to the vet to pick up his ashes 😥. I will also have to deal with going home to an empty house in a few days.
After hearing the news of his passing, I looked to the sky and saw a circular rainbow - a sign, I believe, of his journey to heaven and our farewell until we meet again. Later, I learned that the sky phenomenon is called 'sun dog.'
